With an assist from Land O'Lakes, the Golden Goldys award ceremony celebrated the athletic and academic achievements of more than 700 U of M student-athletes. The May 1 event was hosted by Intercollegiate Athletics and held in the DQ Club at the TCF Bank Stadium.

Peter Janzen, general counsel and CAO at Land O'Lakes, presented the Land O'Lakes Outstanding Achievement Award in Leadership and Service to Gopher Baseball's Cody Campbell and Gopher Women's Track and Field's Nicolle Murphy. This award is given to one male and one female student-athlete who are accomplished in the areas of leadership and volunteerism. Recipients are selected by a Land O'Lakes committee.

Gopher Wrestling's Brett Pfarr, a past Land O'Lakes Scholar, was honored as Male Athlete of the Year. Pfarr earned his second career All-America finish at the NCAA Championships by reaching the NCAA finals. He was the program's first national finalist since 2014. Pfarr is also a four-time Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-America honoree. He is majoring  in agricultural and food business management and has a 3.8 GPA.
