Gopher Athletics Pro Day goes virtual
In October, Gopher Athletics' seventh annual Pro Day connected more than 400 University of Minnesota student-athletes with leading Twin Cities organizations, including Land O'Lakes.
Held virtually for the first time since its 2014 inception, Pro Day is the Gopher Athletics department's largest job and networking event of the year. In previous years, student-athletes met with recruiters and potential employers in person at TCF Bank Stadium. This year, all students and organizations registered through GoldPASS, the University of Minnesota's university-wide job application system. While the 2020 format was different, the goal remained the same: preparing student-athletes for life after college.
Many students welcomed the change to a virtual venue. Without waiting in line to speak to individuals, there was more time to meet and network with recruiters as well as get to know more about specific companies. From a recruiter standpoint, individuals were better able to connect one-on-one with student-athletes.
Pro Day, by the numbers:
- 406 student-athletes attended
- 30 Twin Cities organizations participated
- 350 student-athletes registered for group sessions where employers shared information about their organizations
- 160 student-athletes signed up for one-on-one sessions with specific recruiters
Thank you, Land O'Lakes, for supporting bright futures for Gopher student-athletes!
