Chris Policinski joined U of M President Eric Kaler, Mortenson representatives, and other top donors at a “Placing of the Beam” ceremony on November 22.  Also called “topping out,” it is traditionally a time of celebrating when the last beam, which is painted white and signed, is placed atop a structure during its construction.

The ceremony marked a milestone in the construction of the Land O’Lakes Center for Excellence. The Land O’Lakes-U of M partnership includes a $15 million commitment by Land O’Lakes to expand the Athletic Village and create the Land O’Lakes Center for Excellence – a gathering place and hub for leadership development.

Designed to prepare all Gopher student-athletes for a lifetime of leadership and community involvement, this innovative center will provide significantly more space for student-athletes and a supportive environment that builds academic success, focuses on developing leaders, and fosters healthy lifestyles. The Land O'Lakes Center for Excellence will strengthen the whole student, preparing them for greatness throughout their lives.
